Summary (not the statute text)

Unlike most state laws, Louisiana uses California-style thresholds. The Act applies to a person or entity doing business in Louisiana that has annual gross revenues over $25 million, or annually buys, receives, sells or shares for commercial purposes the personal information of 75,000 or more consumers, households or devices, or derives 50% or more of annual revenue from selling consumers' personal information. State agencies, GLBA financial institutions and affiliates, HIPAA covered entities and business associates, nonprofits, higher education, electric public utilities and registered pollsters are excluded, and many data types are exempt.
